This December, my Saturday feature will be a Christmas wishlist, my top three should-have-read-but-haven't (and hope I get for Christmas) books of the week. So, this Saturday we have:
Leviathan
by Scott Westerfeld. I. Am. Dying! to read this! I loved
Peeps, I loved
So Yesterday, and this one sounds right up my alley. If you haven't heard of it already,
Leviathan is an alternative version of WWI, with the Austro-Hungarians and Germans using Clankers, steam-powered deadly machines, and the British Darwinists arming themselves with fabricated animals that can be used as warships, submarines and more.
Beautiful Creatures
by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Honestly, I just want to know what all of the hype is about! Like
Twilight, but better? Meaning I can have my guilty pleasure and like it too? Count me in. Apparently it's a supernatural romance set in the South, something about a secret, a girl and a grave...sounds like an excellent way to spend a rainy day to me.
Fire
by Kristin Cashore.
Graceling was one of the best pieces of debut YA fiction that I'd read in awhile, and apparently this one is even better, so I'm excited! This would be the prequel to
Graceling, about a girl with hair so beautiful it can drive men and beasts insane. Hmm. I think I'm getting that right...anyway, it's backstory to
Graceling, which might numb a bit of the pain of waiting for an actual SEQUEL!
Tons more, of course, but those definitely top the list. Happy holidays, everybody!
