Wordpress can't come soon enough.

I've been meaning to make the switch from Blogger to a Wordpress site for some time now. I've frequently wished that I'd started with the Wordpress platform instead of the far more finicky, ugly, and clunky Blogger interface, and ever since attending BEA Bloggers back in June I've known that I want a domain name and a more user-friendly site to call my own. As I am lucky enough to have a boyfriend with far more computer-ish knowledge than I, it looks like a website might become a reality sooner rather than later. Yay!

I also wanted to address the horrible highlighting problem in my two latest posts--my review of The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, and especially my review of Bitter Melon by Cara Chow. There's a white background to some of the text that I can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard I try (I've pasted them into Word documents, cleared the formatting, everything I can think of), which is obviously distracting to try and read through. Thank you for your patience as I try and sort this out--it's just one more reason I can't wait to ditch Blogger!

When I finally make the move to my own domain, I hope my lovely readers will be kind enough to follow me there. You've all helped to make Maggie's Bookshelf a fantastic community of friends that I'm so happy to be a part of. Thanks to each and every one of you!

**UPDATE** Looks like I got the formatting fixed on the Bitter Melon review at least. Thank you for your patience!

I was rather happy chugging along in blogger until this week, when I was forced to change to the new interface. What I want to know is who was the jerk that thought click and drag for picture resizing needed eliminating? An secret agent for Wordpress?

I will be watching to see how it goes for you, as I toy with the thought of change myself....

They made another interface change. wordpress and tumblr are my favorite platforms. All the things I see with blogger look ridiculous to me, only because people customize their fonts to look so hard to read. I think you're going to like wordpress.

The fonts on Blogger are ridiculous. My header font loads as Comic Sans briefly before it switches to the one I actually chose, and I'm fed up. I've worked with Wordpress before and I can't wait to use it again.

I'll definitely keep you posted on how the shift goes. I'm hoping it's painless. Maybe we'll both have new websites before the year is out!

I am curious to hear more. Blogger doesn't bother me, but it seems like WordPress is so much more powerful (from what I am reading...)
